Was Your American Memorial Life Insurance Claim Denied?

Gianelli & Morris Is Ready to Fight for You

The life insurance denial attorneys at Gianelli & Morris are here to help you get the benefits you were inappropriately denied by American Memorial Life Insurance Company or other life insurance companies doing business in California. If your life insurance claim was wrongfully denied by American Memorial, or if you’ve been subject to other insurance bad faith conduct, our Southern California insurance claim denial legal team is ready to help.

Who is American Memorial?

American Memorial Life Insurance Company is a subsidiary of Assurant, Inc., one of the largest providers of insurance and other risk management products in the country. Assurant is currently listed as number 325 on the Fortune 500 list of largest companies in the United States by revenue, raking in over $10 billion per year.

Originally founded in 1959, American Memorial fields parent company Assurant’s life insurance business. American Memorial also provides a number of other insurance products, including debt protection administration, pre-funded funeral protection, health insurance, and disability insurance.

Like other large insurance companies, American Memorial has a clear bias toward protecting its bottom line over the interests of policyholders and beneficiaries. American Memorial has been the target of lawsuits alleging the company refuses to pay out on legitimate life insurance claims. American Memorial has also been accused of price gouging, convincing customers to purchase “pre-arranged funeral” coverage as part of their life insurance policies that cost more than the face value of the funerals.

American Memorial’s parent company has been accused of its share of bad conduct as well. The Securities and Exchange Commission has targeted Assurant for under-reporting its income using shady reinsurance practices. Moreover, Assurant is currently the target of a class-action lawsuit alleging the company engages in a widespread practice of racial discrimination in the workplace. A company that does not treat its employees with respect is not likely to give customers a fair look.

What Can I Do if American Memorial Denied My Life Insurance Claim?

If your life insurance claim was denied by American Memorial, you have options. You do not have to take that denial at face value. A seasoned coverage denial attorney at Gianelli & Morris can review your policy and your claims to determine whether the denial was legitimate and, even if there was cause to deny the claims, whether your claims can still be salvaged.

Our zealous insurance denial legal team has spent decades helping California life insurance beneficiaries recover the benefits they are owed after denial for any number of reasons, including:

  • Insufficient medical evidence in the record
  • Alleged misstatements in the original application
  • Policy lapse due to nonpayment of premiums
  • Death caused by a preexisting condition, suicide, or other excluded cause of death
  • Alleged beneficiary involvement in the policyholder’s death

When American Memorial denies a claim, they are legally required to give their reasons for doing so. If they failed to give you a proper justification, you have the right to object. Even if they give you a reason, that does not mean the reason is genuine; they could be stretching the language in the policy or the facts in the record to justify denial. Talk to a savvy life insurance claim attorney at Gianelli & Morris to find out how you can fight for the benefits you are owed.
